Our skills define us. They are what makes us useful and productive. They are the foundations of our achievements. In many ways, they make us what we are.
And ‘what we are’ is constantly changing. As we look to meet new challenges, take advantage of new opportunities and meet the changing expectations of learners and managers.
Imagine a new development programme designed from the ground up with one aim in mind: to provide you with the skills and confidence you need to fulfil your potential as a modern learning professional. A programme focused entirely on what is relevant, practical and founded on the very latest research.
Imagine a programme that gives you the flexibility to learn just what you need, when and where you want. And at the same time provides you with all the support you need to take your skills to the next level.
It’s time to begin your skills journey.
The world of the modern learning professional
The modern learning professional needs the skills and confidence to interact with key stakeholders, with learners and increasingly with digital media. These skills are informed by an understanding of evidence-based principles of teaching and learning, an up-to-date knowledge of the latest tools and technologies and an awareness of what is current best practice. Welcome to the world of Skills Journey.

How it works
Each Skills Journey module stands alone and, if successfully completed, earns you a Proven Performer badge. Those looking to demonstrate their mastery of a complete skills domain – interacting with stakeholders, interacting with learners or interacting with media – can submit a portfolio of evidence for formal competency assessment. The Knowledge – in itself a fascinating and vital resource – is provided free to any Skills Journey user and can also be certified.
You can start a Skills Journey module at any time and work to your own schedule. All you need is an Internet connection.
Skills practice is a critical ingredient in every module. Each lesson in a module includes at least one practical activity. Your end-of-module practical assignment will be reviewed by three of your peers against specific criteria. In return, you will be expected to review the work of three others. There is no limit to the number of times you can submit work for review, even after you have successfully completed a module.
So what sort of commitment are you taking on when you sign up for a Skills Journey module? Well, there is no easy answer as so much depends on your starting point and your personal goal. If you rushed through every lesson and activity, you may be able to finish a module, including the assignment, in as little as three hours but you would not be getting full value. A more realistic estimate of time to completion would be six hours, ideally spread over a number of days rather than all in one go.
Those looking for more support and on-going encouragement can purchase the services of a Personal Trainer, who will monitor all your work in a module as well as review and provide feedback on your assignments.
Skills Journey modules are available online in English. Face-to-face options are also available – please talk to us if you are interested.
As an individual learner, you can purchase modules, collections, personal training and assessments online on this site. Organisations looking for a solution for larger numbers of learning professionals should contact us directly.
